Candidate star BD +61 2408's motion with respect to the rings. The largest black point labeled with the star’s name marks the location of the star without consideration of distance uncertainty, and the star’s motion back in time is represented by the black vector. The smaller points to the left and right are the star’s location considering ±20%, ±40%, ±60%, ±80%, and ±100% of distance uncertainty. The blue shapes at the ends of the vectors show the uncertainty in the direction of origination. Note that the y-axis scaling is much different from the scale on the x- and z-axis, causing the rings to appear very narrow in this projection. At the distance to NGC 7538, 1 pc corresponds to 1.′3 in R.A./decl.
