Caption: Figure 11.

Location of different types of triple systems in the triple diagnostic diagram, which is useful for characterizing large populations of triple systems by plotting two dimensionless numbers against each other. The ordinate represents the mass ratio of the binary within the triple system, while the abscissa represents the mass of the single in the triple system as a fraction of the total mass of the triple system. Systems to the left are dominated by binaries (B), and to the right by singles (S), while binaries and singles in the middle are roughly equal (E). Systems with high mass ratio binaries are near the top, and those with low mass ratio binaries are near the bottom.
