Colors of FIRST radio galaxies in our sample from SDSS DR5. The effective V band is constructed following Jester et al. (2005) as a combination of the SDSS ﹩g^{\prime }﹩ and ﹩r^{\prime }﹩ bandpasses, which we give in the bottom right corner of the top panel. The solid line represents the best‐fit linear model to the data, which is given in the top left corner of the top panel. The bottom panel shows the residuals, as the observations minus the model. The average color for these radio galaxies from the SDSS database is ﹩\left< ( i^{\prime }-V_{\mathrm{eff}\,}) \right>\simeq 1.8﹩ mag.
