Top: The ﹩62^{\prime \prime }\times 48^{\prime \prime }﹩ ACIS‐S3 image (0.7–7 keV; pixel size 0.49﹩\arcsec﹩; smoothed with 1.5﹩\arcsec﹩ Gaussian kernel) of the immediate surroundings of B1823, including the compact PWN and source X (likely a background AGN). The white arrow and the ellipse around the arrowhead show the direction of the pulsar’s proper motion and its 68% error ellipse, respectively (see § 3), with the sizes corresponding to the motion over 500 yr. Bottom: Linear profile extracted by moving the rectangular box (﹩0.49^{\prime \prime }\times 17^{\prime \prime }﹩) along the horizontal line shown in the top panel. The one‐dimensional point‐spread function (PSF) centered on the pulsar position is shown.
