MEG and HEG spectra of 4U 0142+61 at 6 and 12 times the instrument resolution, respectively. The best‐fit absorbed power‐law+blackbody model is shown as a dashed line. The misfit of the continuum between 5.5 and 7.0 Å is not consistent in the MEG and HEG spectra and is attributed to instrumental features around known absorption edges. The spectra show no deep features that might result from proton cyclotron resonance absorption in a magnetic field in the range of ﹩( 1.9{\mbox{--}} 9.8) \times 10^{14}﹩ G.
