H‐R diagram from VLM/brown dwarfs: we plot Burrows et al. (1993, 1997) models for masses of 0.015, 0.03, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09, and 0.1 M; the lowest‐mass track lies at the highest luminosity at a given temperature. The solid points indicate the positions of the VLM dwarfs Gl 406, VB10, and LHS 2924; the open circles mark the four L dwarfs with trigonometric parallax measurements. The uncertainties in luminosity are primarily due to uncertainties in the bolometric corrections.
