Distribution of radio‐loud (dashed line) and radio‐quiet (solid line) indices about their respective mean α_S. The mean of radio‐loud quasars has been offset to coincide at α_S = 1.7 with that of radio‐quiet quasars. The radio‐loud distribution has been normalized to the maximum of the radio‐quiet distribution.
