Recovering a supplemental, artificial line‐of‐sight extinction. The top three panels contain the recovered extinction (﹩A_{V}﹩) as a function of recovered effective temperature (a running median in ﹩T_{E}﹩ for 11 stars) drawn as a solid line. To the existing data, we added a visual extinction of 0.2 mag to generate the upper panel, 0.4 for the second panel, and 0.8 for the third panel. Each panel has a dotted line that corresponds to the level of supplemental, artificial extinction. The lowest panel shows the extinction recovered from the simulation with a supplemental extinction of 0.8 (same as the third panel), but the data are plotted vs. spectroscopic ﹩T_{E}﹩.
