Surface brightness estimates of the ICL at r = 100 kpc for 11 individual clusters (blue) and 5 stacked cluster samples (red) (see Section 2 for more details). From top to bottom we show the surface brightness at z = 0, z = 0.5, and z = 1.0, demonstrating that the ICL will be detectable out to z ∼ 0.5 for the majority of clusters in the first year of LSST and out to z ∼ 1 after 10 yr of LSST.
