The Sample and Line residuals for Charon astrometry obtained by New Horizons optical navigation. The residuals were scaled by the spacecraft’s distance from the Pluto system in order to express the statistics in kilometers. The rms of the residuals for three clusters of data, 2014 July, 2015 January–February, and 2015 April–July are: 167, 38, and 14 km for Sample and 217, 51, and 16 km for Line. Alternatively, the residuals in angular units are: 81, 39, and 126 mas for Sample and 105, 53, and 158 mas for Line. The same residuals in pixels are: 0.079, 0.038, and 0.123 for Sample and 0.103, 0.052, and 0.154 for Line. The resolved images of Charon occur after 2015 April and the last cluster of data has rapidly changing conversion factor for kilometers per pixel.
