Distribution of the median sightline signal-to-noise within the Lyα forest, evaluated at several redshift bins of our map volume. A small number of higher signal-to-noise sightlines have been left out by these plot axes. The dashed curve is a power law with an index of −2.7, which is a reasonable approximation for our signal-to-noise distribution.
