Completeness estimate based on the detection of model galaxies in the WHT V-band mosaic. The plots show the detection fractions (DF) of detected-to-inserted model galaxies as a function of model input parameters. In total, 8015 models were inserted into 101 copies of the mosaic. The first row displays the completeness achieved with the SEXTRACTOR source detection. The second row illustrates the completeness after having applied the rejection criteria to define our working sample (see Sections 3.1 and 3.2).
