Ratio between the mass accretion rate onto the neutron star for simulations with and without a Type I X-ray burst. The two curves distinguish between burst simulations where Compton cooling is included (red dashed curve) and where it is turned off (green dotted curve). Enhanced accretion of approximately equal magnitude occurs during both simulations, but the effects of Compton cooling boost the accretion rate earlier than PR drag alone.
