For panels (a) and (b), the intensity is measured in 0.5–1.25 keV for the hot gas component only, after subtracting various stellar and background components. The solid lines are the best-fit models of each galaxies, with linked slope (β index) but different normalizations. For panels (c) and (d), the intensity is measured in 2–4 keV. Stellar and sky+soft proton background components are not subtracted, but quiescent instrumental background is subtracted and standard exposure correction is adopted.
