Color–magnitude diagrams for the NGFS sample nuclei shown as red circles. Blue diamonds are CSSs that were confirmed by radial velocities, taken from Wittmann et al. (2016), and orange squares mark the spheroid colors and luminosities of the host dwarf galaxies in which the nuclei of our sample were found. Linear relations show the weighted least-squares fits to the nuclei and spheroid color–magnitude relations (see text for details), while the gray curve is a LOWESS fit to the combined nuclei+spheroid sample.
