Comparison of the two methods with the increasing average initial offsets of the images. The robust method is successful for images with large initial offsets beyond 100 arcsec. The least-squares method corrects the astrometry for offsets less than 0.4 arcsec. Both estimations are performed on pairs within the same rings.
