V − I color curves in the restframe of 23 SNe II during the photospheric phase with a shock breakout epoch uncertainty smaller than 4.5 days (the uncertainty for SN 1999em), corrected for Galactic and host galaxy extinction. The scatter of 0.08 mag with respect to the average color curve (dashed line) indicates that the assumption of a same color curve for SNe II would be inaccurate.
